Hong Kong 2026 - day one
How great it is to be back in Hong Kong and temporarily away from the endless onslaught of rain that is winter in the UK. I’ve started this trip with a wander around the hilly Mid-Levels district using the impressive system of public escalators that ascends from Des Voeux Road, nominally following the path of Cochrane Street and Shelley Street, both of which have steps along much of their length.
Breakfast had to be taken first, and I very much enjoyed coffee and a pineapple bun (which doesn’t actually contain any pineapple, but does come with a thick slab of butter) from the venerable Honolulu Coffee House in Hennessy Road, Wan Chai.
I’m making my stand for the evening at Delaney’s, just across the water in Kowloon, and may later enjoy a very special culinary treat that I shall report on tomorrow.
